Murmurtale What a Book Profile holds
A profile gathers the choices that apply to a whole manuscript, set in Preferences:
- Genre — Thriller, Romance, Fantasy, Sci-fi, Literary, or Non-fiction. This tunes punctuation and formatting conventions.
- Point of view — Auto, First person, Third limited, Third omniscient, or Second person.
- Tense — Auto, Past, or Present.
- Editorial style note — a free-text prompt describing the voice you are after.
How POV and tense are used
Point of view and tense are consistency targets, not rewrites. The cloud cleanup pass uses them to flag point-of-view drift and tense slips in your narration only — never inside dialogue or marked interior thoughts. Left on Auto, Murmurtale infers conservatively from your text.
One book, one profilePOV and tense live on the book, not on individual dictionaries. A manuscript has a single point of view and tense; your dictionaries can still be shared across books.

Separately, the cleanup level slider decides how much editing Murmurtale does. See the cleanup levels for exactly what each stop changes. At every level the hard rule holds: Murmurtale edits, it never writes for you.
