Your work

Updating and rolling back

Updating is safe by design: Murmurtale will not overwrite a running copy, and your data is never touched.

Updating

During the beta, you update by installing the newer build over the old one:

  1. Quit the running app from the menu (the quill → Quit).
  2. Install the new build into your Applications folder using the documented install step.
  3. Relaunch from Applications.

The installer refuses to overwrite a copy that is currently running, so you stay in control of when the swap happens. A one-click in-app updater is part of the 1.0 release and is not enabled yet.

You can always see the exact version and build you are running.

Rolling back

If a build misbehaves, you can return to the previous one the same way: quit, install the older build into Applications, and relaunch. Because your models, settings, dictionaries, and history live outside the app bundle, switching builds never disturbs them.

Your data is separateUpdating or rolling back only replaces the app itself. Your work stays exactly where it is.
